Join and belong
A more direct route from understanding the Institute to choosing the right membership.
IHRIM / Website refresh
A clearer digital home for the professional body supporting health records, information management, clinical coding and information governance.
The context
IHRIM has supported health information professionals since 1948. Its website had grown with the organisation: layer by layer, audience by audience, document by document.
The refresh needed to respect that depth while making the experience feel current, credible and far easier to navigate, especially for members, students and professionals arriving with a specific task in mind.
The challenge
01Different audiences used the same language in different ways.
02Qualifications, membership and guidance each carried substantial detail.
03The Institute’s authority needed a stronger digital expression.
The strategic move
We reframed the experience around the questions visitors bring with them: Can I join? How do I qualify? Where is the guidance? What does IHRIM do for my profession?
A more direct route from understanding the Institute to choosing the right membership.
Qualifications, examination guidance and CPD organised around what people need to do next.
Professional standards and specialist resources made easier to discover and revisit.
Design direction
The visual system balances institutional confidence with an open, practical tone. Strong hierarchy, generous space and concise signposting help dense information breathe without making it feel lightweight.
The rebuild
Auditing, grouping and naming content so people can predict where information lives.
Creating repeatable page patterns for services, resources, news and detailed guidance.
Turning the new system into a fast, accessible experience across screen sizes.
Giving the IHRIM team a flexible structure that can keep pace with the profession.
The result
The refreshed website gives IHRIM’s expertise a clearer shape. Complex professional information is easier to scan, important actions are easier to spot, and each audience has a more confident route through the organisation.
More than a visual update, the rebuild creates a practical publishing foundation that can evolve alongside health information practice without losing its way.
